Dear friends,

we have been working together for the last few months on the Startup Media Tel Aviv Summit, and I'm sure you'll agree that we came very close to having a great international event. The collaboration and enthusiasm of everyone involved were amazing. Unfortuna- tely, Coronavirus forced us to postpone the Summit. Let us preserve the achievements and the progress we have succeeded in gaining together, so that we can embark on the newly-scheduled Summit once the horizon clears. And let us keep close contacts to asses the situation and overcome this problem together.

Liebe FreundInnen

ABOUT

How can journalists cover Israel-related topics? How do antisemitism, the Shoa and Social Media influence the coverage? Which innovations and Start-Ups are of use for media outlets when it comes to hate speech and fake news?

We will discuss those questions among  others on our first Startup Media Tel Aviv 2020 Summit. Organized by head of ARD-Studio Tel Aviv Dr. Susanne Glass and Entrepreneur Jenny Havemann, this conference is supported by Jerusalem Press Club and ProMedia Kommunikation.

We are looking forward to connect journalists, politicians, start-ups, organisations and companies from Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Israel. Apart from workshops and panel discussions we will make sure there is enough time for networking, background talks and interviews.

The program focuses on 3 major topics:

About

1.

“Media, holocaust and generation Z: Time for new approaches"

2.

"When the discourse gets nasty: Anti-Semitism, Hate-Speech, Fake-News"

3.

"Media and Innovation"

On day 1 we discuss new approaches regarding the Shoa, media and generation Z. Part of the program are a discussion with a holocaust survivor as well as people from 2nd and 3rd generation. Already confirmed for another panel on the first day: Charlotte Knobloch, head of Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München & Oberbayern.

Day 2 will dig into forms of antisemitism, hate speech and fake news. Under the title “When the discourse gets nasty” this day will give room to discover what recent studies show and discuss with people like Sawsan Chebli, german-palestinian politician, and Wolf Biermann, german singer-songwriter and former East German dissident.

On the last day of the summit, we will look into the future and focus on innovations, when it comes to media and news coverage. Therefor we invited Tim Assmann, german radio correspondent in Tel Aviv, Kai Diekmann, Co-Founder of Storymachine and former Chief editor of Bild Zeitung amongst others.

Our partners are Bertelsmann Stiftung, German, Austrian and Swiss embassies in Israel, Tel Aviv Municipality, German Israeli Association and others.
